Default have to ask ...

so dont laugh and tell me I'm stoopid (just remember my brains been frying for a few years now - theres not much left!)

do you have pay as you go sim cards to buy in the US?

Is it best to bank with a US bank or stay with someone like the HSBC who we are already with?

Are there lots of hidden bank charges?

how easy is it to buy a car quickly - in terms of what documents would we need to get credit from the dealership?

whats a good TV option - cable or satellite? looking for the regular package of the main stations and sports and kids stuff - not worried about movies.

we have UK laptop - which I guess runs on 240v - is it easy to get transformers out there?

anybody have their kids in the public school system? good and bad points? would you recommend private?

so if we have no US credit rating then how do people buy cars when they get there? I suppose using HSBC we could get a car loan coz we have years of business with them.

Yes. T-Mobile and Cingular are on the GSM network (as are their resellers). I'm on T-Mobile pay as you go, have found it to be very good and affordable. Through a reseller, $90 gets you 1000 minutes, which last a year.

The question is, is there anything good to say about the Navigator. Utterly massive over the top offensive vehicles, normally driven half a mile to school and back by stay at home mum with one kid . The Navigator is especially an exercise in pointlessness, essentially being a Ford Expedition with flasher interior and all the gucci fittings for a massively raised price tag.

You'll just need a new cable from Radio shack that box halfway down the electric supply cable is your transformer and should have a cable that separates and this is what you change.

Private schools are usually church schools you need to check them individually as they can vary dramatically.

yes I say the Eddie Bauer - looks good - I've got a Toyota Land Cruiser now and is great for kids, crap, dogs etc...

but its years old and I dont fancy the prices of the Landy's over there for a new model.

Expedition looks like much better value.
