I use my debit card all the time. Fags, breakfast, milk on the way home...
Aparrantly it can be used as either a charge or debit - but the result is the same: debit from my checking. Except, if I use the charge option at certain 7-11 type stores, they charge me a fee. I always make sure they know to "debit" before they ring it up now.

I have never come across this before. Has anyone else?
Sorry, I'm confused.
Did you pay at the pump, did you get a receipt, how did the charge come through so quickly on your statement, how the hell can your bank send you back - the money has effectively been 'stolen' from your account - it is up to them to get ot back for you ??

Normally items are posted to your account overnight...so if you check on line the next day...hey presto there they are.

Paid at the pump. Swiped card first, chose credit to get points. I was watching the amount just to see if it charged the right amount per gallon. Final charge $30.68. This shows on the receipt. Shows on my bank statement as $35.28. So it's not a lot but I'm from Yorkshire.

OH came back from petrol station and they have told him to ring the owner who has suggested we go in tomorrow and he will sort it out.
I really don't understand how one total can be displayed and another charged.
Sometimes transactions early in the day show up on our on line statement later that day.
I'll keep you posted.

Not noticed it on changed amounts, though thats not to say its not happened. But we've had a few restaurants double or even triple charge us - running the same amount through our credit card 2 or 3 times on the same day. That sticks out like a sore thumb! The CC company have always credited it back to our accounts immediately while they investigate, then a couple of months later, the restaurant credits it back to us, and the following month the CC card takes it out of our account! What a palaver.....

Back in the UK we had our credit card number "skimmed" at a petrol station. The number was used for gambling at an online casino and they ran up a bill of 98 pounds (can't find the sign).
Stupidly all winnings had to be credited to the card used in the first place so if they had won a million we might have got to it first and spent it before they could
Or we would have handed it back.

I have a card from my bank that I can use as a debit or a credit card. I always, without fail, use it as a credit card as it's easier to get reimbursed on things, plus if I were to use it as a debit card, I'd get charged $0.50 for the privilege. Greedy sods.

I have a weird knack for memorising numbers, I still remember my boyfriend's phone number from when I was 11!
