H1 Visa stamping in US
Folks,
Please help me on this one too...
I have my (and for my family members) h1 visa notices. Now to get visa stamps on passports I have to go to out of USA and before re-entering I have to go to US consulate for this. Well some where I read that same passport entry could be made by sending visa paperwork with passport to some ehere... in Wasington DC, meaning need not to go to my home country/other country.
Is it true, if so then please what is this whole procedure, what I need to do, so I get this work donr earliest.
Thanks and best regards

Only for an H1 extension. For the initial H1, you can not get the visa
stamp in the US.

Re: H1 Visa stamping in US
A poster on this newsgroup helped me out with the same question. Here's
the info she gave me:
***********
See http://travel.state.gov/hlop.html,
near the top:
"The passport (or accompanying previous passport) must contain a previous
visa bearing the same classification as that which is now being sought."
***********
So a person's initial H1B can only be stamped at a US consulate abroad.
Hope this helps.
