Grey eyes

I never thought about my eye colour before, but this past Friday I went down to get fingerprinted for my naturalisation, filled out a form with such things as what colour is your hair, eyecolour etc. etc. only to be questioned about having checked off "gray" for eyecolour. I had to remove my glasses a couple of times so they could get a really good look and see what grey eyes looked like (presumably so they'd know next time!!!). When I asked about this, I was told that I was only the second person they'd ever seen at the center who had grey eyes. I assumed a lot of people had grey eyes, but now I'm wondering is it such a rare thing? Anyone else have grey eyes and run into this before? Just curious

I've only ever known one person with grey eyes in my life... but can't remember who it was. I remember the eyes though
A Google image search gives some interesting results (although rather too interesting if you have "safe search" turned off!).

My grandmothers eyes are are really unusual, they make people double take all the time. She has a ring of blue then a ring of white then blue again...really weird. Oh and my sister in law has one green eye and one brown eye.

My hubby's eyes are grey or blue or green dependent on what he is wearing or on what the sky looks like that day

My youngest brother has grey eyes. I have very dark brown eyes and hubby has pale blue eyes. My son's eyes change colour. Sometimes they look brown but in bright light or when he is tired they look a green/hazel/grey colour. My daughter's eyes are the same as mine. My other brother has one light brown eye and one dark brown eye.
During a science lesson at school we did a survey and there were only 2 (white) students with 'pure' brown eyes out of 450, and they were me and my best friend.

I thought it was strange that there is an option for "pink" on the naturalization form!

My friend had lovely grey eyes but if she cried they turned bright green. My father's eyes were very light blue, could look grey at times.
