Green Card Lottery Questions
Hello there
I have applied for the Green Card lottery, entering an application for 4 years.
can someone tell me what the process is please for this.
When the draw is made?
How long do I have before I have to leave the country if I am
successful?
Can I re-enter the UK?
If I am successful in the lottery, would I need to be sponsored or can I go straight to the US?
Many thanks

The drawing is held between March and August of the year preceeding the one the
lottery is for. For instance, many winners for the DV-2003 lottery recently received
their notifications.
If you are successful, you will be asked to show up for a visa interview at a
consulate in your home country at some point between October 1, 2002 and September
30, 2003 (for DV-2003). You will receive an immigrant visa, usually on the same day
of the interview. This visa is good for six months. You must move to the US within
these six months.

You can go straight to the US as long as you can show that you have enough money or
skills to support yourself and not become a public burden. If you would become a
public burden, you'd have to have a sponsor who guarantees for your welfare.
