Default Green card - handing it back?

I got my green card last September (as did my wife and daughter). My wife and daughter are flying back to the UK this month (idea is permanently). I will go back as soon as I secure a job in UK.

What should we do with green cards? I have only been in USA 1 year.

I know ALL this effort to get GC and then we are going back, such is life.

I am concerned about on-going tax reporting, is it best to inform the US government you are going back and card expires? What happen if you want to visit US in future?

I have to report taxes to USA governement this year presumably?

Any help out there please?

Thanks!!!
