I'd prefer to vote for FDR - surely he should be high on the list of nominees?

Him and his wife were both in the top 25, but didn't make it to the top 5.

I discussed this with my fiancee, we both agreed GWB is at number 6 through timing. If you ran the same poll in 10 years he would probably fall back out of the top 25.

Have to agree. I can't believe his name hasn't come up yet. For all the controversy over his slave owning ways, when you read his ideas concerning the potential of democracy, his belief and passion for what America COULD be, it's incredible stuff. He contributed far more to the idea of what America is than Washington ever did. He's one of the many who are turning in their graves right now.

It's just like when a poll is done for the top 100 songs/albums/bands of all time and it's filled with current one hit wonders. 50 or 100 hundred years from now George W.Bush's presidency will be determined by how Iraq plays out. If Iraq is running the country without our help, he will probably be in the top 10. If we are still there and getting car bombed, he will be just below Millard Fillmore.

Last night I was watching the program on Discovery about the 'Greatest American' and I wondered out of these five finalists who you would vote for.

FYI: George W. Bush was number 6.

Hugh Hefner or Larry Flynt gets my vote with Ron Jeremy in a close 3rd place.
