Hi All,

Just received my passport back with my L1a in it, woohoo.

What do I do next? credit cards, social security numbers etc.

Thanks

You get your social security number after being in the US for 10 business days. Life is very difficult to kick-start without a SSN, however, you can get a cell phone (well I know an iPhone from ATT with $500 deposit returned after 1year), and some banks will even set up a checking account and credit card (HSBC Premier for instance if you qualify)

Hope this helps!

Congratulations, you have now graduated to the USA forum to talk about the things you can do before your move, and immediately after. Have a read around, there are lots of good tips here already.

You can not apply for your Social Security number until you are in the US.

congrats...

now you've got the visa sorted, still read the forum as there's loads of stuff posted already and also the wiki covers a lot of your questions, like what to bring, banks and credit, cars and insurance etc...

any specific questions, sure people will be willing to help out
