Go & See This Lovely English Movie....
.....I went to the movies last night to see 'Pride and Prejudice' and it was wonderful. It has an excellent cast; Keira Knightley, Christopher Plummer, Matthew MacFadyen, Rosamund Pike, Judi Dench and Brenda Blethlyn (she was brilliant and so funny - reminded me of my mum with all her flustering LOL!).
Here is some info and movie clips:

The cinematography was sublime.....achingly beautiful shots of the English countryside, especially in the Peak District in Derbyshire....the audience around me gasped at the sight of the palaces Chatsworth House and Burghley House (which are properties open to the public).

The nice and refreshing thing about it was that it included a cast which did not solely comprise of 'beautiful' people that one finds in Hollywood films and true to the setting they weren't plastered in make-up either!
Even my husband enjoyed this movie (but it was hard for him to admit it...he prefers gruesome horror films LOL!). I'm definitely getting it when it comes out on DVD...but it really should be seen on a big screen to see the beauty of the countryside and houses.

I can't see the clips. I use firefox and it's telling me I'm missing a plugin but it doesn't tell me which one. Anyone?

My wife refuses to see it on the grounds that the one with Colin Firth made her horny

Will probably have to see this. I watched the TV version and thought it was magnificent in every aspect.

I did go and see 'Sense and Sensibility' at the cinema in Singapore; it starred Kate Winslet, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson (who edited the screenplay for the movie and won an Oscar for it - she incidentally edited this latest version of 'Pride and Prejudice - and unpaid). I really enjoyed this movie too, more so than 'Emma' with Gwyneth Paltrow.

I thought that Keira Knightley was pretty good as Lizzie Bennett, at times being quite feisty and in other scenes quite coy and demure....my husband thought she was 'hot' and said he wouldn't kick her out of bed
(but he doesn't like her flat chest LOL!)
