I would like to take some gifts from England to give to some new US friends.

I am struggling for ideas of what is deemed as a very English gift that is not available in the US for up to £30 each.

All ideas would be welcome

Some decent tea? The local brands like Liptons are rubbish.

Prints or lithographs of rural scenes from your part of England, or any part. Prints of English/English-style country scenes here are unbelievably kitsch.

Every time we go to visit my husband's parents my m-i-l loves for the two of us to go and have a sweet and a drink! My f-i-l won't go with her and my husband won't go as a show of solidarity, lol. I love the view of the shops out of the window in Harrogate and my m-i-l gets to do a girly thing.

If you smile sweetly they will make you afternoon tea at lunchtime. Oh, and they'll swap out the egg sandwich *blurgh*

i always like to bring a few bits and pieces from Marks and Spencers. Some nice buscuits for tea. They usually do nice small and easily packable tins of shortbread or assored buscuits.

You mean the stuff that is sweet but not actually very chocolaty?

All mass-produced milk chocolate sucks, no matter who makes it. Plain/dark chocolate is the only stuff worth making a fuss about.

When I visit friends in the US I always bring them some English cider - or sometimes wine from a local vineyard :-)
