Yep, and its a well known fact that cars are ever so expensive here too. Well worth spending the money on shipping.

Manc & Dan,

Doesn't he want to take his cheap US car to Germany from the US? Or have I missed something?

Oops I must've had a long day! My mistake, sorry. In that case I will try to make a constructive comment.

If I was in that situation I would try to get in touch will a dealer or mover who has a lot to do with the US military in Germany. They ship cars back and forth all the time, and could probably give some decent advice on type approval requirements and that kind of stuff that will need to be changed on the car to make it legal over there. I still don't think I'd bother, as if its an American market car only, parts availability might be a problem and it might need a bit doing to pass the TuV test. I still reckon I'd sell it and pick up a nice beemer when I got to Germany

A freight forwarder will probably do it for you including customs and an insurance bond etc.

Also, check the post at the top of the "Moving to the UK" forum (with useful links).

There may be one or two links to car importers there.

Yes, I know he's going to Germany.
