Default Freak!

And I am not talking about Yosser.

This woman had a double mastectomy just in case she got breast cancer - she doesn't have it and is young and healthy. What is wrong with these people!

I think she is practising prevention is better than cure.

There's a high incidence of breast cancer in her family and she felt she was going to take preventative steps. It was her choice and I'm sure she thought it through very carefully before going ahead.

Others may not like her choice and the change in her appearance but as long as she can "live with herself", I'm fine with that.

I consider it a bit like this. If a cancer is detected and it is operable, it's not that unusual to remove more than just the cancer itself. Surgeons remove tissue surrounding the cancer, just to make sure any possible remains of the cancer are removed too.

Actually I don't at all think she is a freak. In her position I would do the same in a heartbeat.

I've had 5 breast cancer scares and believe me it is not fun. I swear if I ever go in and they find any sign of it I will get them to lop both boobies off and stick on a couple of nice firm falsies rather than have to worry for the rest of my life am I going to die of breast cancer.

I agree. My friend back in England has just been through reconstructive surgery and had the false boobs. She was diagnosed with cancer and had to endure losing her hair because of the Chemotherapy treatment. She got so sick and tired of the pain that she made the decision to have the surgery. Breast cancer was in her family, so I think she made a wise choice. I know I would do the same thing too if it happened to me.

NC Penwing is right... It is sometimes used as a preventative measure!

I made a donation to Bridgport Hospital about a month ago for Chemotherapy patients. -- it's a good thing to do!

Can't see how taking action to prevent a possibly early death is self mutiliation. If you were talking breast surgery a la Anna Nicole Smith I think it would be different.

I said I was sorry, what more do you girls want blood! I don't have boobs, I don't understand them, to me they are just toys or fluffy pillows!

You need to grovel a bit more. You're married so you must know that sorry is never enough. How about sending flowers and chocolates??

If I was in her position I'd get my boobs removed too. I'd rather be alive than kicking than dying and on chemo. At least she wont have to worry every morning she wakes up that she'll find a lump.

And anyway, breasts only function are to feed babies!
