Patrick, have you tried Cost Plus World Market if you have one in your area?
They have a pretty decent selection of British foods (the real deal, not the US rubbish posing as British) and the prices are more reasonable than the mail order Brit stores or speciality shops.

I used to drive past World markets when I was covering all the 48 lower states, but never looked in I did find Fresh markets in south carolina had good english stuff .... Now I am confined to areas north of Philly and don't get much chance to look for the stuff .... I am told there is a supermarket about 3 miles from where I load in Yonkers that has all engish foods but there is never anywhere to park a tuck when I pass it.

Which market is that Patrick? Super Stop and Shop in Cross County? Probably not because there is plenty of room for parking a truck. If I can be of service, i.e. do your shopping and throw the bag to you when you are stopped at a light, will be happy to help. However, must be done on weekends and/or after 5:30 p.m.

Also there is a Whole Foods in White Plains but again no immediate access to parking. You would have to park in the Bloomies lot about two blocks up and opposite it and walk to Whole Foods.

There is also a Trader Joe's on Central Avenue in Hartsdale. Outdoor shopping center for lots of room to park there for you as well.

It's a small family owned one on Yonkers ave, there are piles of fresh vegies outside every day .. my mate tells me I can get anything english in there but I would have to double park in the street .... It's a well known fact that Yonkers police HATE us truck drivers who form a constant line of tankers going to and from the sugar refinery

Thumbs up Re: Found some more English food today but ain't paying that much !

We lucked out yesterday. Discovered an 'upscale' dollar shop called "Five Below" (which I originally thought was a cold-weather clothes shop) where everything costs $5 or less.

They're selling the original Cadbury's Creme Eggs (these were made in England, not that horrid stuff made under licence by Hershey's) for 65c each!

(Patrick; it's on Route 22 East in NJ, next door to the Sports Authority, just after the Springfield & Westfield exits....always trucks and HGVs on this route LOL).

Can't you get stuff sent to you cheaper? (Not sure on postage and law, so may be talking *&%$)
Who, BTW, would want Jammy Dodgers and digestives - unless you're 4?? Heinz spaghetti?? Hoops or regular - lol
Creme Eggs..........mmmmmmmmm now I can understand that
Anything light and legal (think postage) I'd be happy to send you....

Their prices are daylight robbery to be sure but when you've got to have a hobnob you just got to have one. So, I am afraid I shell out even though I grumble about being ripped off for days afterwards.
PS Their (SHaws imports) London Pride Pickled Onions are fabulous.

I bet half of them were out of date as well... Was slightly depressed the other day as had a work trip to the UK cancelled at the last second so went to my local Shaws and paid $1.29 for a six-month out of date raisin and biscuit Yorkie, which needless to say made everything better.

My local Indian sells a heckuva lot of Brit stuff for a good price. The expat store is a ripoff, but hey, it isn't every day I go there

I stopped buying S.A. goodies for the most part because they're horribly out of date
