I had a J1 visa and my OPT expire last January, the company I was working for did not want to sponsor my H1, even though I got the Waiver, so I was forced to change to a B status and find another employer.

I found it!, and we request the h1b, but I just received the notice that it has been denied because the occupation (insurance agent) is not a special occupation. Now my B status expire August 20th and I am trying to decide among choices.

I know that request an extension of the visitor status is a priority but after that I can:

1.- Appeal the decision regarding the H1b request

2.- Request to return to a J1 status for a year extension

3.- Find another job/sponsor, which will take a lot of time

I appreciate your thoughts about this, and I appreciate any suggestion.
