Default Florida Rental law

Hi Guys, I am a fugitive from the Spain forum.

We own a house in Naples, Florida. It has been rented out long term to an excellent tenant (he is only there about 7 months but pays for the year.) It is a private arrangement.

I just wanted to know can a tenant get property rights after a certain period of time, or can anyone point me to info' on the laws?

Squatter laws (known in the US as "adverse possession") only kick in when the squatter does not have permission to live/use the property in question. Your tenant has your permission.

I was a bit worried that the law could be like Spain where if someone gets a 12 month contract it is almost impossible to get them out for years. Seems as if I am ok. then to give him another 12 months.
