Re: Flapjacks
I loved driving down the road & spotting a greasy spoon in the truck stop. They make great bacon & mushroom butties, oh I miss them so much. Hubby is gagging for one too, he turned into a bit of a bloke while living in England, although most of it was my fault. Most of the people on our base never bothered to try anything really English, but I managed to lead some of them astray!

Scrumptious (It's Delia's recipe - you can't go wrong with good old Delia!)

Good luck with yours, and my only suggestion is to make more than enough otherwise you might find they're all gone before you get chance to try them

Want to knock a batch up tonight, but don't have "almond essence"....do you absolutely have to have that, or is it a nice add on?
If it does have to be in there.....what does it look like?

You'll find it in the supermarket, probably next to the herbs and spices section, in a little box labelled as "almond extract".

I wouldn't add vanilla to it, but that's my personal opinion.
Follow the recipe and add a small amount of almond extract as suggested by TN-Dave and Wintersong. I bought some yesterday for $2.37 from Safeway, in fact it was the Safeway brand.

Just my twopenneth, if you substitute the oats for crushed up Hob Nobs, it is so fab! Makes you teeth melt, mind.
