The Beatles '65 on LP. I wish I still had it.

Wunnerful. I also remember when Prince hit the scene. He repulsed us but we loved him anyway. Now he seems so benign.

Yes he was amazing, apart from Sign O the Times his music sounds dated now though.

I've never been a huge fan of his but I can recognise his ability as a songwriter and performer (the weirdness of the symbol thingy notwithstanding)

Also, after seeing him perform at the superbowl whichever year he did recently, I can also say he's a pretty bloody good lead guitarist as well.

Oh I think a lot of his music still holds up. But in the late 70's/early 80's the whole sexually aggressive (yet overtly effeminate) stage persona was just hard for teenage girls from Texas to process.

Yup.

I remember looking at his first album cover and going ------>

I couldn't have been any more than 13 or 14. I remember the curtains in my bedroom.

I liked his movies, too, Purple Rain and the one of his live show.

I love(d) him.

BTW I just looked it up. Apparently it was actually his second album cover Dirty Mind that grossed us out so much. If I recall there was a poster inside of him wearing nothing but some tight bikini bottoms and a whole lot of make-up.

Don't forget we had Freddie Mercury and Marc Bolan.

The first album(s) I bought...

Christmas 1995... in Chorley, Lancashire. I bought two albums:

Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet
Meatloaf - Hits out of Hell

...and a single:

Mike Flowers Pops - Wonderwall
