Finally moving UK -> USA!!!!!
#1
Well, the movers have just done thier stuff (By the way, I used PSS from London), and inside two hours this morning, they packed, sealed, inventoried and cleared out 25 boxes of stuff. Very good service.
All I have to do now (hahahaha "ALL"???), is to throw out EVERYTHING else as trash, pack my suitcases and go.
I fly out on Thursday, but have to be out of the house during Wednesday morning, so I have MANY more hours of trash clearing to cram in yet!!!
Now to worry about everything going OK at my chosen POE (right stamps on everything), then the wedding, then AOS and getting the EAD, then Advance Parole, then perhaps I can relax just a bit (only as long as it takes to drink a coke - my fiance will be reading this too, so can't slack too much)... hehehe

COngrats! My husband and I did it backwards from what you did. He was here and we
just decided to get married so he is having his brother have his stuff shipped, and
didn't go back to the UK. I am going to tell him about PSS. He also wanted to find
someplace that wanted a huge collection of lp records. Too heavy to ship here...
Either way, I am betting you are very happy, even tossing out the trash and all. Best
wishes for a happy road ahead.

>Congrats!
Thanks

Ok. Shipping is not cheap, but there is no choice.
PSS are on 0207-407-6606 (001-207-407-6606 from the USA).
BTW, I am NOT getting a cut from them for the plugs on here. hehehehe.

I had the guys take about 80 LP's and 200 singles (remember 45's?).
The LP's filled up one of their boxes. Lots of tapes and CD's sent too.
>I am betting you are very happy,
Indeed.

It's VERY hard work. LOTS and LOTS of it. Amazing just how much you gather over a few years

If any are Rolling Stones I know of someone who might be interested.

Luck to the both of you...I hope that my fiance' in England and I will soon being
going through the same thing. We have only just filed our 129F. We are already tired
of this, and still have a long way to go.

International shipping via a sea container is charged on volume. Broadly speaking 60 cubic feet of feathers costs the same to ship as 60 cubic feet of books or 60 cubic feet of lead or 60 cubic feet of anything....

Waiting is something you will do quite a lot of.
A word of warning... Once you get the approval NOA, things seem to move quickly and once you get the visas, there simply isn't enough time to do everything properly, so get them done ASAP. I am just finishing off my emails etc, before I fly out to the USA. There is 5 hours to do about a days worth of rubbish clearing and house cleaning. THEN there is a load of letters to write and last moment stuff to do, say goodbye to people etc, etc. THEN you know, I migt actually be able to leave this place!!!
The last thing I need then is to have to file a tax return BEFORE the last day, or try to sort out a problem with my car insurance refund or other "admin" stuff for the UK. Like I said, do it ASAP, not last moment.
Take care.
Brian.

Ok, that's it. I'm offline now to pack my cases, clean the house and for the trip over to the USA.
Be back online Friday sometime....
Brian.
