Tomorrow is suit and tie day for a trip to Smyrna, Georgia for a Web Designer position.

After trying Dice.com, ComputerJobs.com, CareerBuilder.com and the ever crap Monster.com, I found one on Craiglist.org.

No agency.

Applied last night after having a look through and I got a call first thing this morning.

So, I'll be nervous on my three hour drive in the morning
Hope it went/goes well!!!

Well, I suppose it wouldn't do any harm.
I remember in 2002 I was out of work for a while, applying for jobs, and getting the odd interview. I tell you when you're in that position you'll take anything.

GOOD LUCK!! Can't wait to hear how it turned out!

My hubby (also a member of the 150+ Job Applications Club) has an interview this week and one next week. So for him, in 7 months, that's a total of about 6 interviews. Surely something's got to give one of these days soon!!!

You have probably finished the interview by now and I hope everything went smoothly for you. It's a full time job just trying to get an interview for a position these days.

I'm sure everyone is waiting with baited breath to find out how you got on so please let us know as soon as you can. I suspect that you won't know immediately, but give us an idea would you. Once again, Good Luck!

Alrighty, made it back in one piece at just after 5:00pm.

Started out this morning at 8:00am and got there earlier than I had planned. I'm anal about being on time so I always leave myself an hour incase of bad traffic. But this morning, I-75 and I-285 were clear and I made it in record time. Get there about 11:30am and my interview wasn't until 1:00pm.

So, I kicked around for a little bit to check out the area. Pretty nice and not as hectic as central Atlanta. Not a bad place to move to.

Anyway, back to the interview. I left it until 12:45pm before going in and it seemed to go okay. They appeared to like my resume and my portfolio (this site being a nice piece to show off ). Then they asked a few personal questions about my strong points etc.

The only thing that may be an issue is the fact I live 230 miles south. I made it very clear that as soon as I knew for sure I have the position, I'll move. I checked out some rental properties online and found suitable homes that were available now. I made a point of telling them that as well as suggesting I could be in the area in 2 – 4 weeks.

They seemed pleased that I had more skills than they originally asked for. They pulled a page they were working on for an online store and asked if I could complete it. Told them how I would do it including the use of a database and got a brief stunned look. When asked if I worked with databases, I listed the main ones I have used. That seemed to work well. Funny, it was all listed in my resume. But still

No issues with immigration. Just asked if I had the proper authorization to work and I said that I had.

Overall, the company looks like a great place to work. A nice sized team in a nice location.

So now, it's just a waiting game. I wasn't the only person they were interviewing so I guess it depends on the strength of the other candidates' portfolios.

I was told I should hear something by the end of the week so my fingers are still crossed.

At this point, I'm pleased to have had my first interview and get back in the game. I was scared of going rusty but it all came back once I sat down and discussed what I do best. Web design is a passion so it's easy for me to talk about it in a way that conveys that it isn't just a job. Its fun and I love doing it.

As soon as I hear anything, I'll post the outcome.

I applied for a couple more yesterday so if nothing comes of this, I hope to have more interviews soon.

TO THE FELLOW MINI DRIVER

On my way back going South on I-285, I saw a blue Mini with the Union Jack on the roof. Dude, I pulled along side you, honked my horn and waved yet you still ignored me. One of the rules of being a Mini driver is to wave to other owners.

If you are originally from England, you need a slap. Especially if you are a member on this forum.

If you are an American, then what the hell are your doing with a Union Jack on the roof of your Mini and why don't you acknowledge other owners??

Some people are just no fun

Every one tune into PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) for Rincewind, from the report it seems to have gone well.

Glad to hear that it seems to have gone well. Now do make sure you immediately send off a nice thank-you-for-the-interview letter, telling them how much you liked the company and the people, and reiterate your keen interest in the position.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

Elvira

Hope you get the job - I'm sure they saw how keen you were. I hope they paid something towards your travel expenses.
