I think it is really just a nostalgia thing. Even people still in Britain go on about the "good old days" and lament about how everything has changed. The difference for us is that we have moved to a different culture, so we assume that is the trigger rather than another drop in the ocean.

Yeah, well IMO both places have weather that is no better/ worse than the UK. We get generally, mild short winters, probably averaging 2-3 snow falls, but none in some years. And only a couple of oppressively hot and humid months in the summer. We get about the same rainwall as the UK (west side), but it almost all comes down in 3-4 rainstorms per month. For about 3-4 months each year, spilt between spring and autumn, we use neither heating nor AC.

Every location has it's plus and minus depending on your personal want's, need's, and choices, they also all have their beauty, i don't care if you live in Santa Barbara, Kansas City or New Orleans....If any one area was better than everywhere else, then we'd all be living in that one area, the Eco system is self balancing. I hope this thread dosen't end up as a location bashing thread, the thread heading is called; 'The feeling of being gone'.

My experience is west coast Canada having moved here from San Diego. For the most part things are not so different that its startling and really is not a heck of a lot of difference between WA state and BC but there are significant differences between San Diego/So. California that I miss.

High quality zoo to spend a day. Museums of good quality all close by in one location. Plethora of community colleges to take a class or 2 at an affordable price.

To name a few.

Reality if healthcare was something we could afford, we would seriously consider living there and would be nice to have family around again. Kind of lonesome in this place sometimes with no family around.

As each day goes past, I find myself thinking less and less about the UK. I used to watch a tonne of shows from back home but now I hardly ever watch anything from back home. I still watch Sky news every morning, but that's because I'm rather partial to watching proper news rather than the biased bullshit you get over here. The only thing I really miss are my 35 days of paid time off a year, and family and friends of course.

Yip all good responses.....I'm way past the stage of looking back everyday or pine-ing etc.....I agree the NEWS channels are iritating, in fact i don't watch any TV anymore, it's complete and utter nonscence, AND OH THE POLITICS, oh please.....Maybe i wouldn't have those moments if i absorbed all the bull hype on TV...LOL
