I have to share some sad news and let you know that I was informed today of Fatbrit's passing by his wife. She wanted to let you all know that he died from "complications associated with Cholangiocarcinoma on March 15th 2013. I am not sure how to notify everyone on B.E., but I would appreciate if you would tell the community of his passing. He very much enjoyed chatting with fellow expats on this site. They were his circle of cyber-friends."

David has been a big part of this community for over 9 years and I know will be missed. I admit to having knocked heads with him now and again over the years, but I've also been appreciative of the way he went out of his way to help others by answering their questions, and pointing out the error of many a newbies ways ;). There has also been many a time when one of his comments has made me laugh out loud. They broke the mould when they made him.

I will miss his little bouncing sheep popping up in threads, so in his memory I am going to don his avatar for a while.

RIP fatbrit (AKA David)

That is very sad news. I was thinking about him the other day, and wondering why he hadn't been posting of late. I shall miss his wit and wisdom, and his somewhat barb posts which I have been on the receiving end of from time to time. David you will certainly be missed on BE. RIP and condolences to your family.

RIP Fatbrit, your pithy posts will be sadly missed. :( And condolences to his family.

Like others, he and I bounced off each other from time to time, but while I could tell when he didn't agree with me, he had class and common decency.

The BE forums will be poorer for his passing.

Re: Fatbrit

I've just found this out and I am absolutely gutted. FB and I would often decide to play devils advocate on threads and we have even, in the past, gone to other forums to stir up some fun. He was a fantastic guy to talk to and unlike so many on here, I always too the time to read his posts, even if I didn't agree with them he always seemed to make sense. I am genuinely shocked, I hope his family know that he managed to connect with people on here in a positive way and that in that, he was a really genuine kind of guy. He'll be a sad loss.

I am sorry to hear the sad news. I enjoyed his take on various topics.
May I inquire as to what the circumstances were? Thanks.

Re: Fatbrit

That's awful news - I never really know what to say when I hear news like this, but although we never met in person ( and I haven't been on here in ages) we shared a lot on BE and I feel like I've lost an old friend.

RIP comrade Fatbrit.
