I have been to Toledo, I have been to Sylvannia, and Maumee and Perrysburg also Findley caught my eye too.

Toledo is like St Lucia compared to Salford.

I always wanted a Sylvanian Family when I was a little girl.

I've been to Salford and to Ohio.

At least there's good curry in Salford.

Awww thanx, you are too kind!

Actually when I originally wrote that post, I put Ray instead of ray, then decided against it! Are you spying on me?!?

no, you have to pay the fee and to get the visa you have to show you have the funds, but there are things like ERASAMUS and the other one, can't remember that will sponsor most EU students to do a year exchange who can't afford it...still need living expense money though...
Well, the original quotes were:
"International students will need approximately $43,830 to cover expenses for one year at UC Berkeley. Tuition and fees are about $25,830 and living expenses are approximately $18,000. Tuition and fees are subject to change without notice."
Well that is $18k + vs $25, so in the ballpark.

You can indeed avoid paying out that kind of money in tuition fees! My parents I know were earning slightly more than the 'cutoff' for any sort of financial aid... The only extra out of pocket I had was this from my year out there:

#500 GBP for the tutition fees
~#80 GBP for visa paperwork fees
~#100 GBP for various misc fees from registering at CU... I think to partly-fund things like voluntary organisations/obscure clubs.

+ flights (though these can be paid for by the UK gov't if your parents earn below a threshold, one of the guys on my course did this)
+ living expenses ( accomodation, food, books)

I did however have to prove funding for the latter. Basically statements of my savings, proof of my income (from summer/parttime work), and my parents income satisfied this.

I was there for 10 months, accomodation was $400 a month (shared apartment off campus). Food and books weren't that expensive TBH (well, one textbook cost $100 IIRC! )... I think at the time it was said you should have around $10,000USD to survive the year.

The $10K figure ir more to secure the visa, if you can't show you have that for a six month semester, you might not get the visa, and then you ain't going...and $100 on a book, that's nothing mate.
