Default Fall Foliage

The aspens have already peaked in my part of Colorado, but it was a four-week festival of colour. How is the scenery in your part of the US at this time of year?

Houston only has two seasons. Summer and winter. No fall here. Although the temperature has been a bit more pleasant recently, especially in the mornings and evenings. I do miss Autumn and seeing all the leaves.

I did time in Texas (it felt like it) and remember the closest thing to autumn was the two-week 'leaf off' that occurs with live oaks.

Nethead - any pics from Vermont?

We've seen some falling leaves here in CT, & some of those fallen leaves even have interesting colours, but no real colour on the standing trees yet. I think it's only the sick or damaged tree branches that have changed leaf-colour this early, so you see just a touch of orange here & there.

Usually our fall foliage is pretty good. But this year with no rain (yes people, Seattle doesn't always rain!) and warmer temps, everything is just dry, brittle and devoid of any real eye popping color!

Some trees here in KY are just now starting to change. I suspect we'll peek in another 2 weeks or so.

Still dry and brown...

Years ago I did a 2-week cross-country train trip from LA to Boston in October I think it was. Apart from the fact the scenery changes anyway, the leaf fall was in various stages too - green in the south west and brown in the north east. A kaleidoscope of colour!

Took a trip to breckenridge last weekend and the colors were stunning. Probably would have been even better the weekend before, but the Aspens were still beautiful.

They've been changing colours for the last month....it's fairly pleasant out at the moment.

Last year was shit as all the leaves got blown down along with most of the tree's during a storm, the year before was similar too I think.

Off to Michigan tomorrow to do some peeping, I've heard the colour is looking good there already.
Our colour is a fail, windstorms, rainstorms and warmish temps mean the leaves are falling before really turning.

I'll try and get some pics up when I have a day or two off, and once they've changed a bit more.

Annoyingly for me, the best stretch of leaves is around a downhill bend on I-495 and it's a bit iffy taking a photo while driving down there

Southern Maine is at the pre-amazing stage. Green trees with the ends starting to go bright red. Love this time of year.
