Sorry, but you got bad advice if someone advised you to be "cautious" while driving in Brooklyn ...

Re: Failed driving test
When I took my test there was a guy sat at the side of me doing the theory test we both started at the same time. The first question is 'Are you a resident of Florida' I went out took the test passed came back and he was still on the same question:blink:
Then when I added my bike licence there was a woman who was failing her eyesight test she told the guy 'I'm ok when I drive on the left' to which he replied ok and gave her the licence:confused:I thought oi dick sprit we drive on the right over here FFS |
Re: Failed driving test

We don't call it anything because it doesn't exist here. The word manoeuvre has been removed from the Texas dictionary. Our roadways are so enormous that pilots often mistake them for runways and land without incident. The cars simply drive around the poor dears until they get their bearings and take off again.

Oh I know!! We lived in San Antonio for almost 2 years and I didn't drive for the whole time, those 'roads' scared me!! Hubby had 'special names' for the drivers there. tourists=slow/careful...Implants=inconsiderate/annoying...Native Texans=downright nutjobs/kill or be killed! |
Re: Failed driving test
We native Texans are one with the road. It's this magic zen thing. I've driven a zillion miles all over the place and had only one accident that was my fault - and it was a dented door in a parking lot.

Must be a lot easier to take if you grew up with those roads, it was just way too scary for me, especially that ring road thing that went around the city, was it the 210? |

Very close - loop IH 410 which goes by the airport and is a standard freeway - or TX 1610 (the outer or Anderson loop) which used to be a farm road in a very rural area but has turned into a race track punctuated by stoplights and shopping centres. *I* don't like driving 1610!

I don't have to drive on it every day. :) Unless I'm a damned tourist visiting SA. I still won't take it unless it's the dead of night or there's no other alternative.
Although I hated the traffic in Texas, I really did love the base there, Randolph has to be one of the prettiest in the AF :) |
