I always used my own equipment. Lost weight for me, momentarily.

Congratulations! I did the exercise equipment thing too and never used it after the first month novelty value wore off
I joined a community swimming pool instead and started swimming laps & water aerobics........dead cheap and great for overall workout.
Of course no good if you hate to swim
Plus weight watchers........ realistic plan if you need extra support, always works for me when I over indulge funny thing is........ the pounds usually creep on after I have had a British food binge buy cause I eat it all at once

Ha ha, I am guilty of that too. So I just bought an elliptical trainer, I dont have time for the gym. We toyed at the idea of spending big bucks and getting an expensive one or keeping it cheap and cheerful. We chose cheap to see if it would be something we could stick to before investing good money.
Anyway, it arrived tuesday and I just put it together today. It was only $89, but its sturdy, looks substantial and is easy to assemble (it took 15 minutes in total).
I can't rate its durability as I have only just got it. It doesn't look like it will fall apart, not even with my big ass wobbling around over it
Its maximum weight load is 250lbs.

Yep, me too! I recently bought the Gazelle and it's pretty good for what you pay. I prefer to go out and power walk, but just can't in this heat!

That said, I have got a smiliar piece to your item number 2, bit more expensive, but very sturdy, comparable quality to the high end Total Gym that Chuck Norris advertises but more than 1/2 less of that, its here:

http://www.total-trainer.com/dlx3.html

It's very sturdy, and you can get a good workout, if you need to its easily put awayable. That Walmart one looks flimsy, seen it out and about, I wouldn't trust the thing to last.
I have one similar to this one, a Gazelle type thingy, an eliptical trainer, and a bike...don't use any of them. I have a Nordictrac treadmill which I use for walking...less stress to joints than running.

The rumour is we have an eliptical and a recumbent bike, they're grey and they scare me.
