Hello everyone,

I find it amusing that americans say Herbs without the H ...so they say "erbs"

why is that...it drives me crazy?

How long have you been here, Sweetheart?

SO much else and more worthwhile to drive you crazy here, surely!

When I first lived here in 2002, I was blissfully unaware of that one...until someone pointed it out to me - I still find it daft as well. Keep reading this forum, and helpful people will point out other great idiosyncracies as well.....like the snorting and grunting populace!

And yet to me, and many here I'm sure...Herbs with the H sounds sooooo hayseed or redneck...though 'H'erbicide sounds fine. WTF

But-Like was mentioned earlier, there are soooo many more deserving things to whine about here!

Take a look at English English, mate, it's full of contradictions where some French words are completely anglicised where others get at least a try at french, also with no rhyme or reason.

Consider also:
Rafe for Ralph
Chumley for Cholmondely
Fanshaw for Featherstonehaugh
Worstershire for Worcestershire

and the list goes on, and the list goes on.

Sin-Jin for St. John. It is the darndest language to learn...
