In Britain, they used to sell some of the alcohol to members of the Armed Forces for the cost of duty. I think they've stopped that practice now.

When I came through once, I had CD-Rs with me containing all back ups of all my works files, personal photos, artwork, software and MP3s. I just wrapped them up securely in my checked in luggage so they wouldn't get broken. Came through no problem.

I even fly over once with a suitcase full of my music CDs. No questions asked.

If you really have a concern, you may want to invest in some online storage space. Upload all your important files to the server, fly over and then download it all again on your new machine.

May stop you worrying during the flight.
