that link I provided....they sell decent convertors that aren't that small, but they won't over heat, and there meant to be used with high consumption products like stereos' etc...

80 videos @ $1.50 = $120. And you'll still have to buy a 'local' VCR, say $80.

You might be better of in the long run with a dual VCR. In a year or so you may start to pine for BBC stuff that you can't get here. If you have a dual you can bring back a suitcase full of favourites on every trip back...

I asked for (and recieved) some new hair straighteners and a hairdryer for my birthday because my UK ones didn't work properly over here. The hairdryer sounded like a mouse farting and the straighteners usually warmed up just in time for me to straighten my hair before I went to bed.

"Helen of Troy" is the best hair straightener going...

Thanks for that... 3 days after getting Remingtons for my birthday!

I like this one though - it's pretty good. Much better than the crappy Vidal Sassoon one I had back home.

I have very curly hair and Helen of Troy is what I use. Gets smoking hot and works great. My SILs in Dublin use the clothes iron....talk about straight. Last longer than anything else.

A friend of mine used to do that. I was gobsmacked when she told me, but I guess it's no different to using red hot ceramic irons! Apart from the likelihood of burning your cheeks, maybe
