Default E-2 visa timing query

Hello

I hope someone is able to answer my query.
  • We are applying for an E-2 visa (me, my wife and 2 children).
  • I already have a retail business set-up in US.
  • We're back in UK.
  • My attorney sent the binder to US Embassy in London which was received Thurs 30th Jul.
  • I see on credit card statement that visa fee for all 4 of us was withdrawn on Tues 4th Aug, it mentions US EMB in description field.
  • I know instructions on their website states non-immigrant visas can take up to 90 days.
  • When I spoke with an agent at the US Embassy few weeks ago he said it's around 1 - 1.5 months.

Wondered if anyone has recent experience of E-2 visa and can advise what time they are taking?

Also, will the US Embassy now start processing our application?
Do we need to do anything else or just await their correspondence?
Will they also take the application processing fee just like they did with the visa fee?
Or do we need to make that fee payment via another method?

I'm slightly confused in this matter so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I know I have an attorney and I can ask him but attorneys are attorneys, it'll be nice to get some clarification from those who have had an experience or have some details to provide.

Thanks in advance for reading.
