Duvet Covers
This is a wierd thread I know. We've just moved back to US (Upstate New York) after previously living in CT 1999-2003. I need advice as to where to buy duvet covers. Everywhere seems to sell these nice padded 'comforters', which really I think are quilts. I remember when we lived in CT we found it difficult to find them too and I survived by buying them when back in the UK.
However this time I am on a mission. Has anybody found anywhere that sells nice duvet covers? Or am I going to have to resort to buying them back in the UK again. I hope not. Advise needed. And by nice I mean equivalent to M&S or NEXT. I have seen that NEXT do international delivery but you cant order all their lines internationally. |
Re: Duvet Covers
Online you could look at the Company Store, LL Bean, Pottery Barn. I've found the IKEA duvet covers are fairly decent too if you have an IKEA close by. Oh, Macy's too.
Best regards, Naomi. |
Re: Duvet Covers
In the past, I've got ours at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Pottery Barn. Best of luck in your search!

Re: Duvet Covers
Simply shabby range at Target is lovely.
You can also check that line on Ebay...much less. |
Re: Duvet Covers
It the shops, Ikea and Bed Bath Beyond are the best bets.
Also Pottery Barn, but pricey. Over Stock is good for online. M/S send internationally at a fixed rate I thought. |
Re: Duvet Covers
If you brought UK-sized duvets with you, then you may have to resort to ordering from UK sites, if you want the duvets to fit properly.
If you plan on buying US duvets, then you can check out the stores that others have mentioned. I am picky about the materials used in my duvet covers, preferring a high thread count than I can usually find in stores, so I buy mine online. |
Re: Duvet Covers
Thanks for the replies, I think I must have been going around with my eyes shut as there are loads out there. I think they are on line though because I haven't seen any in our Target or BBB. Thanks anyway, I am well on the way to breaking the bank at Pottery Barn for Kids! :-)

As for BBB and PB, check out the online coupon sites for discount codes, can sometimes save a fair chunk. |
Re: Duvet Covers
Department stores tend to have them, like Macy's. A lot of places only have sheets.

Re: Duvet Covers
IKEA. We bought duvet covers from there and used them with UK bought Duvets.

Re: Duvet Covers
Thanks for the replies, IKEA is miles away, the only sight I see of IKEA is from an aeroplane, arriving or departing from Newark Airport. Why don't ikea do internet sales? I have always wondered about this.

Re: Duvet Covers
Next Direct do deliver to the US and they now have bedding on their US website.

Re: Duvet Covers
You should buy duvet covers from the same country that you buy your duvet since the sizes are not the same.
My daughter has an adorable Princess duvet cover that my parents bought from John Lewis for her. However I always have to scrunch up the duvet (both width and length) since her actual duvet was purchased here in the US. It's not a huge issue if they're from different countries but you should be aware that they don't quite fit properly. |

The beds we brought from the UK are exactly the same size as the beds here: Single = Twin Double = Full King = Queen Super King = King The bedding we bought is the same, my bed has a UK M&S Super kingsize duvet cover on a US bought Kingsize duvet! My son's UK single bed has all US bedding on it (Cars 2 of course ;) ). We bought our daughters Queen size bed's when we arrived and we use UK kingsize bedding on them! Did we just happen to be REALLY lucky? Although before we came we researched and the bed sizes matched up as above.... :sneaky: As for buying bedding we have bought bits and bobs from most mentioned although some charge outrageous prices! Vicki |
