Amber - normallys comes after green but NOT in the USA. Goes from red to green THEREFORE it does not catch your eye. As a new USA driver, you will be sitting at green, like a lemon until some honks at you.
I'm guessing you'll be taking the bus after reading this thread anyway. That's a little easier than driving except you normally can't get to within 6.2 miles of where you actually want to be. You use a cab for that last 6.2 miles but there won't be one in that area. I'm guessing, that trip to Majorca is looking closer by the minute !!

You're brave starting out in Boston. They must have the most selfish, mean drivers in New England. Just be aware of them pulling out right in front of you, specially if there is a mile of empty road behind you. They always want to be first out of a junction and god help anyone that gets in their way. Once you get onto quieter or country roads, you should not have much problem. Good luck.

You won't be able to leave an empty glass bottle of Barr's Irn Bru as a deposit
Most folk in Beantown will like you if you're a Celtic fan, so if you're a Hun, keep your sash out of sight whilst driving
