Default Dress code for Oath ceremony

On my oath appointment letter it states that men must wear a coat & tie.

A coat? In San Antonio? In August?

Anyone have first hand knowledge of what most people wear at these things?

Probably means more.. no T-shirts with slogans
Of course they mean shirt and tie....look really strange with a
coat and just a tie ..

I wonder if a bolo tie would be acceptable.

Someone is making this stuff up.

The law says that you have to take an oath - it doesn't say what you have to wear when taking it.

I would show up dressed comfortably and neatly - whether or not you wear a tie should be entirely up to you - I certainly would not wear one. If they are stupid enough to not allow you to take the oath because you are not wearing a tie, sue them.
