Be interesting to see how this affects things down the line...I mean the UAE were big customers of US companies like military gear, Boeing etc...wonder what big business over here is saying behind closed doors

The 7th July bombers were British, perhaps we're not allowed to own them either

exactly. The whole problem is suppossedly about security. That's mostly US customs and coastguard's remit not the port operator. Some of the quote comment's I've read online are just mind numbingly crazy...

Amazingly enough, I agree with Bush on this issue! And the xenophobia coming from both politicians and parts of the media is really scary.

I think this has been discussed before. The whole affair is a disgrace no matter who is calling the shots. Paranoia.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually agreed with Bush about this one. He's right that this debacle is a huge step backward in solidifying relationships with moderate Arab states.

The Dems and Repubs in congress making political hay out of this one should be ashamed. Xenophobic, ignorant protectionism. As more time goes by, I think their constituents who forced the issue will realize that this knee-jerk reaction had little to no factual basis and is going to cause real problems in the long term. I think Bush comes out of this justified, despite the some of the media's attempt to plaster blame on him for being "out of touch".

Add this to the kiboshing of the Unocal takeover by a Chinese company earlier and it really doesn't bode well.
