Default dogs, rabies vaccinations and moving back home

Hey just wondering if anyone has been in this situation.

My mutley is due for his rabies shot soon, but so far I havent found a vet that has the same chip reader as the one he has. So how can I link his new vaccination to his chip?, and if I get a new chip, how can I prove continual coverage with his old chip?

You can buy a European style reader for about $150, just a thought.

Hmmm. There are "universal" chip scanners out there . . . Do you think it would be enough to just give the vet the chip number to put on the paperwork? If they scan the dog at the airport, presumably they have the correct scanner . . .

Just thinking aloud . . .

Good luck.

I think there will probably be many options but just trying to get some ideas. We're not moving back, but its a kind of just in case. Although I don't know what i'm woried about, there's a 5 month waiting list for a quarenteene (sp?) space in Oz

I had got my dogs chipped and the titre test done in 2006 because I thought I might be able to move back, but then wasn't able to.

I though I was going to have to have the titre test done again, but I found out from DEFRA (I sent an email to ask specifically), that once you go through the process of microchipping and getting the rabies titre test done, as long as you keep the rabies shot renewed by the due date, you don't have to redo the titre test.

So we're ready to go whenever things get sorted. Doesn't hurt to be prepared for any eventuality, does it?
