Maybe they have an automatic forwarding filter that copies all emails to an email address called [email protected].

One suspects they didn't just sign up for a free gmail account and they do in fact pay Google for email infrastructure services.

Sorry just found the Home Office official advice on how to avoid fraud:

https://www.gov.uk/government/public...icks-and-scams

How the fraudsters may contact you

We know that criminals are:
using email addresses that look official but are not.

Always get your information from official websites. Official UK government websites always have ‘.gov.uk’ at the end of their website address.

Official Home Office email addresses are always in one of two formats:

[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]
[email protected]

Sometimes the email address you see on the screen of a fake website or email is in that format, but when you click on it, it creates an email that will be sent to a different address. Always check the actual address on the email you are sending.

My last company used Google, and we had our own domain name etc - gmail is definitely single use type email that was NOT paid for. And if they did, it must be an awful service and cost not very much at all...

You don't use @gmail.com for Google Apps.

That wouldn't meet government mail retention quality standards for starters.

Exactly. Why on *earth* is a British EMBASSY using a gmail address? It is total amateur hour. I would _never_ email that address. I can't trust its validity for starters.

And yet there it is.

Just goes to show how low down on the FCO priority list consular services are these days.

I'm getting drunk with a British consul on Friday. I'll ask him what the craic is.

You can't get anywhere in HM Armed Forces without a ridiculous Boy's Own nickname you know. Would 'Buster' Howes, 'Jock' Stirrup and 'Paddy' Ashdown have got anywhere if they called themselves Francis, Eric and Jeremy?

Coming back to the original topic...
Anyone know how important the marriage certificate is? I only have a PDF copy of ours as I've misplaced the original in our various moves. Would the copy be acceptable?

Thanks

You'll need the original or a new certified copy. In which country did you get married?
