Default Doctors/hospitals

Hi I have read a thread that says that you can just go to a doctors and ask to be registered - I thought you had to be working for 6 months or you would have to pay ? Have been away from the UK for 5 years, I havnt worked or paid tax during this period could anyone clarify this for me. I still have my medical card and my last P45 with NI no.

Well, did you not believe the thread?

Yes just go to the doctor and register. If they are full try another then go to the local health authority to allocate one.
