Do you carry your green card with you ?
Just curious, how many of you, who have a green card, carry it on your person ?
I've lived here for 27 years, and I have always kept it with my passport, in a firesafe, I have never been asked for it EVER ! Not even for employment.

I'll go first. No - never - completely pointless and don't give a toss about the law.

Jesus Christ - we nearly had WW3 last time this came up.

I've started carrying mine.

Despite hearing people say different, I've carried mine since the day I received it.

Sometimes. I used to have two wallets. One slim one for going out partying, one regular one. It stayed in the regular, or at home in my "special things" drawer.
I've always had to present my green card for every job I've had over here.

Carry it all the time. Been stopped many times at the numerous border patrol checks we have in Arizona because of all the ****** illegals. Oh sorry that's another thread.....

I wouldn't go across there if you paid me.
Everone is checked
No, I'm a Geordie. (although that probably doesn't help).
Drive on the I-10 to New Mexico, the I-8 to California or a lot of places south of Tucson and you will be stopped. Some checkpoints are permanent and others are mobile. They find a lot of drugs and illegals this way.

My husband is a USC now, but when he was a PR, he carried his GC with him all the time in his wallet. He also made that I-10 to New Mexico road trip several times, and there was a checkpoint every time, where he had to show his GC.
I suppose now with the new law passed in AZ, he'll have to get one of those wallet-size passport cards and have that in his wallet to prove he's here legally. Ugh. What are the rest of us supposed to show??

I've wondered.. your sister is on the right side of the line, but all my people are one exit past that checkpoint.. they go through it almost every day.
My mother's naturalized; I'd better warn her they're after the foreigners, cause this all happened when they were away.
OP: what's the rationale for posting the question? Just curious.. looking for affirmation of your decision? Nosy? Going to turn us in?
And why have you lived here 27 years and not naturalized? You like living on the edge? Well, obviously, since you haven't been carrying your GC.
Hey, you've been here long enough to remember this also.. did you always check in every year as required?

As a USC you don't have to show anything. (unless you are the driver in which case they might want to see your driver license) You just answer yes to the question "Are you a United States citizen?"

I started carrying mine when i did delivery for Sears. We would deliver around Arizona, so i have been through many of the checkpoints. Sometimes they would ask for my card other times they would not and i am British Asian.

I posted the question out of curiosity
I am just in the process of getting Naturalized, ( well I have the forms anyway). To be honest I just didn't see any advantages apart from voting, however given the current political climate I have changed my tune.
No I never carried my GC and probably still won't unless I am traveling some distance.
And no I have never checked in so I guess I do like living on the edge, ( just a little bit ).
