DeLay calls it quits
Surprised no one has a thread on this already..
"...Republican Rep. Tom DeLay of Texas, the House of Representatives' fallen majority leader, is calling it quits in face of mounting legal problems and a tough re-election campaign that may have been unwinnable.
Twelve years after helping Republicans capture control of the House, DeLay, nicknamed "The Hammer" for his hardball political tactics, is ending his bid for a 12th term and will leave Congress as early as next month, party aides said.
While DeLay had predicted he would be cleared of any wrongdoing, his concern about losing his House seat to Democrats in November was a chief reason he decided to step down, aides said...."

But hey, y should I be worried about him? I have a senior at home with zip access to affordable medical care.

One for Ray, they revoked his license to carry a concealed weapon in Texas, as he'd been indicted. He's arguing the case....

Re: DeLay calls it quits
You've got to love the GOP.
Delay is leaving after "much prayerful thought" because his "love of the GOP" means he doesn't want to become "a target vicious personal attacks by the liberal democrats"

"My COS is going to jail. I might be going to jail. And my shameless corruption has sickened so many of my constituents that, despite my gerrymandering, my pollsters are telling me I'm going to get stuffed in November."

Delay and Libby both found guilty.
Both pardoned by Dubya just before he leaves office.
Both end up earning $millions as consultants/lobbyists.

Re: DeLay calls it quits
Deserves what he gets. I have no sympathy at all for any politician who misuse their power. Unfortunately there are too many out there who have still not been caught imho. It always amuses me how repentant they are after they have been caught, almost breaks my heart.
