Re: Debunking U.S. Myths
There is a very real danger, both in the US and the UK of mistakenly believing that a college degree is some kind of passport to success. This is especially true amongst parents who never went to collage themselves and invest a college education with far more importance that it really warrants. In the US it is a myth perpetuated by the multi-billion dollar collage industry. In the UK it is a myth perpetuated by governments desperate for credibility.
As more and more students are encouraged to believe that getting your hands dirty and learning a profession is something only immigrants and dropouts do, the more demand there will be for skilled workers. Already a good plumber can earn as much as a lawyer, and yet we're still encouraging our chldren to go to university to study ANYTHING that gets them a degree.

I do agree with you, and I wish my oldest did become a plumber, seeing that college clearly doesn't agree with him Unfortunately he's got two left hands (and he isn't left-handed...)

I meant its the equivalent of a US Masters degree due to it coming from an honours school, which in the UK would have taken me 4 years. I dont make the rules I just follow them, and if thats what it is then thats what it is.
