I hadn't heard of them, so I found this discouraging review:

I love my Global Knives (well, as much as you can love a knife! ) - tbh I haven't looked to see how much they cost in the US, but we bought a set as part of some Sunday supplement special offer as they are very expensive in the UK.

hubby to be had a couple, there was another one but i managed to break it trying to cut the heart out of a cabbage, not sure if it was operator error or just that I got the better of the knife. Personally I prefer my Kitchenaid knives.

I splashed out on a set of pricey knives for hubby, and he loves them, think they were henkels? however you spell it.

Me personally though, I bought some of the ceramic colourful ones from TJ maxx and they are my fave. Bought them individually, and got some santoku's, some chefs ones and some smaller ones, they are SOOOO sharp. Have sliced into myself many times haha :P

Sabatier, like the Globals, need to check them out, some are awesome, some less so. Really good knives, but depends how they feel in your hands as they have different balance.

I agree. I bought myself a set for my 18th birthday and we got another, larger set for a wedding present. I like the 6" chefs knife, paring knife and carving knife from my first set and the 8" chefs knife from the second set best.

We still have a couple of 40 year old STEEL, not stainless steel, brass rivet, wood handle Sabatiers, cost big £'s back then. Few swipes on the Steel, will cut through anything. They also, have to be washed dried & oiled. Have a newer one, stainless steel, brass rivets, wood handle, great cut.

Trouble is, as I found out many years ago, while looking at new ones, they are not all created equal. I always thought it was, a French Brand name, until the salesman, in Harrods, gave us the lecture.

Aye, the same with Henkels, double dancing dudes for the logo are the German ones, single dancing dudes are a cheapo rubbish made in China under license deal.

i just bought a colourful small knife in home goods that is German. (kuhn something was the band) Bleeding thing is lethal. I didnt realize just how dull and crappy my old knivs where til i let myself loose on this tiny sharp thing. Ive already cut myself twice with the thing - im even sitting here with a bald thumb as i managed to slice the end off (actually skinned me- stings like hell) cutting up a sandwich last night. I may have to go back to the old crappy ones as at least i didnt hurt myself lol.
