A cup of ... what???
Just paid another visit to the friendly guys at our local CIS to enquire about my son's AOS and hand in his AP application.
Went into the coffeeshop next door to get my parking validated. This is what I said: "Can I have a croissant, a small coffee and a cup of water, please" This is what I got: - a croissant - a cup for the coffee - a plastic cup of... FRUIT SALAD!!! :rolleyes: |

Are you kidding? :eek: I am - despite occasional evidence to the contrary (especially in that pub known as The Lounge...) - a mild-mannered, well behaved English Lady. So I simply said "I'm sorry, I asked for a cup of WATER!" The girl did look somewhat puzzled for quite a few seconds. My son intervened at that point - he works at a pizza restaurant, so can do a passable imitation of Woadder... |

Maybe if you'd said "a glass of water" you would have been ok, sometimes it's the small things that make a difference - it might be that the only things they serve in cups are hot drinks and fruit. :D
