No medical history? At all? How odd.

This cannot be for real.

There is a big thing about class sizes here in theory some grades are supposed to have 16 in a class by this year from the 2002 class amendment size bill.
But... it is way more complicated than that and that bill could be repealed as its costing way too much money. Remember these are the same schools who make parents provide photocopying paper, pens, tissues, glue etc every year.

Even down in my neck of the woods, in SD, in a great school district, i wanna say my 10 year old was in a class pushing 30...and theyre laying off 2 more teachers...lovely..

I still love California though:)

I think we know the pitfalls of both places...but these types come on thinking Britain is somehow a tough place and that it's all sunshine and lollipops in the US.

I went back and edited to quote her post but really it was a general comment about the way she is approaching this move. I do find 16 surprising if it's a public school but of course I don't know the full facts of the Florida schools - will look at the link - thanks.

All you need to know is they are not in compliance and schools are sometimes forced to hire an extra teacher so they could have 40 in a class and two teachers and it only applies to core subjects as far as I know.

Grade Range Maximum Number of Students Allowed
in a Core Class by Fall 2010
K – 3 18
4 – 8 22
9 – 12 25
