Confused about G/C scenario
Hi Everyone.
This is my first post and I was wondering if anyone could offer any suggestions.
I went to the U.S to live in the 1980s with my American wife,I received my G/C and lived in the U.S up until 2010 when we returned to the UK for health reasons,2 years after returning to the UK myself and my American wife divorced.
I am in the possession of a G/C that shows an expiry date of 2011 and of course I have not been back to the U.S since we left in 2010.
I would like to visit the U.S next February as a tourist for 3 weeks.
1,Is there anything I need to do before I leave with regard to still being in possession of the G/C,can I buy a ticket and go or would there be any complications with still holding the G/C ?I'm asking because someone told me to never give up my G/C....????
Thank you.
And I should say.....I only want to visit the U.S.

Re: Confused about G/C scenario
You can visit using the VWP, I believe. I think your GC status will probably be classed as abandoned by now and you will have to re-apply.

Card and status are two separate things. As suggested you may already be considered to have abandoned it, though only an immigration judge can make that determination. While you say you have no intention of keeping it, it should be noted that actions such as entering on the vwp would count against you should you change your mind later.
