Default citizenship price raising!

.......got a call yesterday from the woman who is getting my citizenship done for me........I had to put it on hold for a while because I had shoulder surgery...anyway,I'd planned to get the pics done and pay for everything, so that it can all get going at the end of Feb........anyway,she called me yesterday to tell me that the fee would be going up from $400 to $650,but she doesn't know when......so I'm getting cracking on that next week..........that will make Citizenship a lot further away from a lot of others,I dare say.........Sophia

I think it's not till April.

But why do you need to pay someone to get your citizenship for you? Surely that's easy enought to do?

Yes, it is easy to apply yourself. why pay someone else to do it?

I know that money can get tight for us all at times, but if you can't scrape together $250 over a period of weeks or even months there must be something seriously wrong surely.
It is hardly going to make citizenship a lot further away from anyone imo.

Are you taking the piss ???
Are you seriously trying to tell me that there are people applying for citizenship who would be hard pressed to get together $250 over a period of time.
Do you personally know anyone in such a position ???

Don't be such a muppet

You really have no idea on how little some people have to live on. Try to imagine a whole family wishing to naturalise, and all they have is one minimum wage job.

Anyway, it's not $250 - I thought it was a lot more.

Ok - so now you start talking about large family groups - nice one.

As a fully paid up champagne socialist you are hardly in a position to be commenting, but please do tell me how little some people live on Elvira seeing as you are clearly well versed on the subject.

The majority of people applying for citizenship as far as I can figure would not be working minimum wage jobs.
Surely average legal immigrant earnings would exceed the average American wage by virtue of the immigration process alone.

well, me for one. I'm a little over minimum wage but not much. Just finding the $330 is a big stretch for me. If it was a lot more than that......

I'm not sure why you think that people going through the immigration process would be earning more than average Americans?

On the contrary, many of them are young newly-weds, and thus likely to earn less than average. And I'm sure many new immigrants - particularly those who are not native English speakers and/or are whose qualifications/skills are not easily transferable - will find it less easy to earn a decent wage.

Anyway, I thought you had me on ignore...
