On Brian William's new show on NBC (which is a brave attempt at news and current affairs in primetime) there was a story about rich Chinese mothers coming to America to give birth and hence get US citizenship for their kids, and then immediately returning to China. There were the usual Republicans outraged that these moms were taking advantage of the 14th Amendment and the starry eyed Liberal who saw it as an opportunity for the US to maybe gain someone who would do great things in the future.

Nobody pointed out that these kids would be paying for their citizenship by having to pay US taxes, even if they stay in China. It was also pointed out that China doesn't recognize dual citizenship and the assumption was that it would be difficult for the kids to go to school in China as US citizens. This shows the US blind spot wrt citizenship, taking US citizenship does not delete your other citizenships, the kids would just be Chinese in China.

I can not remember where it was, but the Dems had a convention and there was a nearby bus station, so they had it relocated for the duration to get rid of the riff raff.

The 2012 Democratic Convention will be in Charlotte NC, and the city is considering re-locating the transit terminus, which is opposite the venue, to minimise disruption to the city. This is apparently pretty standard practice for these events.

Rush and his ilk have been banging on about how this is the Democratic Party wanting to exclude the riff raff -- just using his usual tactics to denigrate the Democratic Party by obfuscating and twisting the facts to suit his poisonous agenda.


Also: what has this to do with Chinese people coming over here to have babies?
