Children in the US Write of the Healthcare Experiences
I found this fascinating-
http://www.childrenshealthcampaign.o...ners-book.html
Children throughout the US sent in essays about their experiences of American healthcare. There are excerpts from each state's winners.

About one in every eight American children has no health insurance—that’s
9,157,000 children.
If all of America’s uninsured children held hands, they would stretch 6,936
miles—two-and-a-half times the distance from San Francisco to Washington,
D.C.
The majority of uninsured children—78 percent—live in working families.

Let's hope Trace finds some time in her busy schedule to read some of them.

But what is the point for me? I've never said the US system was perfect or anything such thing. So I doubt I'd be surprised.

The good thing about it is that they're proactively addressing the problems and there is much publicity concerning those problems.
Over here, there is next to nothing in the media. Nada. Zilch. It gets brought up once every 4 years as a political ploy, but after that - **** the 45 million (and rising) that can't afford it.
Like Mad cow disease. Like MRSA. The list goes on. Over there, it is all over the media when it happens. Here it gets suppressed, because some corporate somewhere down the line will lose mega $$ due to bad publicity.

I've seen some publicity here - although I have no idea if the frequency is similar.

People did not care for that plan at all, that's true.
I suspect things will happen bit by bit.
HIPPA did a fair amount. States are implementing plans too, Illinois isn't too bad a deal for example.
Not saying it solves everyone's problems, but I think they'll gradually make progress rather than one huge sweeping change.
