The Field Museum is pretty neat -- one can visit "Sue" the T-rex. My kids enjoyed immensely -- but they are 30 and 33 years old which may be a little older than yours.
The youngest, probably less so. Oh well  |

This is easy. Museum of Science and Industry in the morning (don't miss the coal mine and the space stuff), Giordano's for lunch, a quick stop at The Crown Fountain and Millenium Park, walk up part or all of Michigan Ave/Mag Mile and finally hit the Hancock observatory and Oak Street beach. Dinner anywhere on the Mag Mile. Be sure to see the beach, it will give you a unique perspective on Chicago. This should be doable in a day.
Alternative to the Museum is the Shedd aquarium, which is awesome. Avoid Navy Pier like the plague. Aquarium, science and kids museums do seem to be well recommended. We're definitely see what kind of deals we might be able to find and see closer to the time. Long shot, but anyone that's done the kids museum and the aquarium and done the ones in Boston, how do they compare? And what about parking in general? As crazy/expensive as Boston? If it's going to be $40 a day, that's not to bad if we can park centrally and then walk around, or get the bus or what not. |
Re: Chicago for one day?
Bit of an update, but we're now planning on two days as the in-laws are spending another day there and FIL wants to catch a ball game, I kind of want to check out Wrigley Field too, so we'll do that and the rest of the folks will do something else for the afternoon.
So any recommendations for a place to eat around the stadium, or places to avoid? What about a place to spend the night? I'd like to do B&B type thing, but have a feeling it'll be a holiday inn type deal, but any other ideas would be handy :) |
