In fact, we're off for the holiday weekend to Carmel and one of the top reasons that we go there (as well as it being very dog friendly) is that they have a FABULOUS cheese shop. You go in and they offer you tastings of any of their hundreds of cheese. Keep tasting until you find what you like.
Not cheap but also has wine and picnic supplies and is a short stroll to the beach.

Trader Joes have it for not to bad money.

That Irish butter, it's cheaper than the regular stuff there too which ain't bad.
