Default Cheeky sod...

Well I've just had a phone call form the Police trying to raise money for young peoples drug and alcohol awareness programmes, as my son has just poured an entire bottle of Apple and Blackcurrant juice (which I might add cost $8!!!) all over the floor I was not in the mood for talking so I said the first thing that popped into my head which was "sorry I'm moving back to the UK next week" this has worked several times before but did he go, did he chuff..
He continued with his begging and pleading and when I said "sorry I'm really not interested" he said "well surely you appreciate our great country having lived here, help us to raise money and stop us becoming like England!!!!"
WTF did he mean by that???? By now I was in the mood for talking but he put the phone down on me when I demanded to know what he meant!!!!

It won't be the Police department, it would have been a company - taking 90% - on their behalf.

They can be a right pain in the arse with those calls. I have had people knock on the door also trying to get you to put a sticker in the window for a donation.

Can't think the average tele-fundraiser would know about chavs.... maybe he was hallucinating about Amsterdam and dope fiends....

Woodsey, are you on the no-call list?

"Charities" are excluded. So are banks, for that matter! Guess who has powerful lobbying groups in Washington?

In that case I'm surprised cable companies aren't excluded too!

It never occured to me the calls I got would be from fraudsters!

Fortunately it was discussed here last year, so I knew not to give to people over the phone because they always take a ridiculous percentage.

I'm so fed up with the constant begging and unwanted add's, that we now have the ringer off permanently with the message's kicking on, and if we'er in will pick up to who we know

We had one of those calls recently for the Veterans League or something. Anyway unfortunately they got my OH. He was in no mood for the call and asked them where they had got our number and that he did not give permission for them to call again. The guy from the charity said that if it wasn't for the Americans Europe wouldn't have won the war...then he hung up!

Cheeky bleeder!!!

As has already been pointed out these calls are from charities and organizations some of which are fraudulent, they tug on your heart strings and/or guilt that the donation is going to the police/firemen etc etc. I had one such call years ago on behalf of the ' policeman's ball' or some similar alleged event.
When I refused to donate he unleashed a chain of profanity and hung up before I had a chance to reciprocate.
