Default Changing SS and drivers license with deed poll

My spouse just changed names via deed poll. We're been married for 6 years and have been in the USA all this time. CJ has a 10 year green card. Has anyone changed their name by deed poll and changed their documents here? If so, have you experienced any problems? Immigration said we don't need to get a new green card ($370 and we have 9 years left on this one), and a new passport requires a new green card plus passport fee ($265), so we'd rather not update the passport. We're not planning on going out of the country.

Thanks!

Annie

Deed polls are not a valid method in the US

Deeds poll are used for this purpose in countries including England and Wales, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, New Zealand, some States and territories of Australia, Hong Kong and Singapore.

States vary by there methods ......
